Home Cooked Meal Recipe for Dogs & Cats!

Hi everyone!

Today we'll be sharing a very simple Home Cooked Meal you can easily prepare at home for your dogs and cats*!

We know how time consuming preparing home cooked meals for your dogs or cats can be, and we hope that this simple recipe (that only takes 35 minutes from start to finish!) will help you make that task just a little easier :)

*Vegetables are not essential to a cat's diet so you can omit it if you like

Here's what you'll need:

  • 500g Protein of choice (I used chicken breast), cut into small pieces
  • 2 pieces chicken liver (you can use pork liver, beef liver, etc)
  • 1 can of sardine (soaked in water, approx 78g after draining)
  • Handful of chopped broccoli and carrot
  • Teaspoon of coconut oil (optional)

I usually rotate the types of protein used for my dog and cats. So we usually have chicken for a week, then salmon, then pork, then beef, and so on. I like that different proteins provide different amino acids (amongst other nutrients) and it's also a nice change in taste for them! :)

When it comes to offal, don't shy away if you can handle it! It's got a great source of minerals and nutrients for our dogs and cats. A little goes a long way though, so a small amount will do!

Sardines is an amazing source of omega-3 fatty acids (excellent for joint health), rich in B12 which is great for the heart, DHA that's fantastic for the brain, and so much more!!

Broccoli is rich in antioxidants and has the potential to slow down cell damage while carrots contain polyacetylenes, that has antibacterial and anti-fungal benefits (it does have a fair bit of natural sugar though so probably not something to add to every meal).

Before serving, aside from their supplements, I usually add a tiny sprinkle of Eggshell powder :) Calcium is very often overlooked or forgotten about with home cooked meals! You can get yours here: https://www.feedmypaws.com/products/eggshell-powder

Now, the steps!

We hope this recipe will be helpful during your meal preps for your dogs and cats! As with all Feed My Paws recipes, please tweak it if necessary to suit your furkid's ideal nutritional requirements, or check with your vet/nutritionist for the best diet :)
